Come along to our old Somerset Pattern apple press The Old School Centre Orchard Garden (TA24 8QD), to see how apple juice was traditionally made.

You'll be able to taste freshly pressed apple juice straight off the press - there's nothing like it!

You  can even take some away to have later for free (although we do invite a donation to cover the cost of the new cartons please!)

Pasteurised bottled juice will also be available foe sale too (that keeps for 18 months unopened).

The good news is that we will still be demonstrating our old Somerset Pattern Press, and the ancillary vintage equipment. You will stiil be able to taste the juice straight off the press, and of course take some awy to enjoy at home.

We will be selling the pure pastuerised juice too, that will keep for well over a year - so ideal if you are visiting and want to take some home.

This will take place on SATURDAY 23rd OCTOBER 2021 between 10.00am and 3.00pm, in the orchard garden of The Old School Centre (Visitor Centre).

Come along an witness the process, and a significant part of the Vale of Porlock history, in terms of its importance to the rural economy in years gone by.

We had hoped that we could go ahead with just the apple pressing this year.

Such is the ongoing situation with the spread of COVID-19, and the increasing restrictions on gatherings, we have taken the decision to CANCEL this years event in its entirety.

Porlock Apple Press Group will still however be undertaking pressings so that juice will be available for those who wish to partake of either raw-unpasteurised, or longer lasting pasteurised versions.

Freshly pressed apple juice (1Ltr cartons), will be available for free (we would however, invite a donation of at least the cost of the new containers @ 50p each).

We will also have a limited supply of pasteurised bottles (75cl), of this years juice available to purchase. These will keep for well over a year at least. If you would like to order before hand and ensure you have what you would like, please use the contact methods to pre-order.

We are a NOT-FOR-PROFIT entity, and any donations or other income is used solely to cover running costs and maintainance/improvements to our historical archive of equipment. We are always looking for pieces of vintage apple/cider equipment, and other agricultural or rural craft implements to enhance our displays. Our lovely Lister CS 5/1 stationary engine is around 90 years old and has done sterling work at our pressing events over the last 3 years. Last year she began to struggle a bit and had to be encouraged along to finish pulping all the apples at Porlock Apple Press & Rural Crafts Festival.
